We headed out to Phillipsburg on Thursday afternoon and got in around dinner time, it was perfect timing! Kaden did pretty good, but doesn't get the whole not asking every minute "are we there yet". Brooks slept most of the way, but was also antsy to get out of his car seat at the end of the 4 1/2 hrs. After dinner, we walked over to Granny and Granddad's old house, where my cousins live now, and visited with them before bedtime and then walked back. We were entertained thoroughly by Ryann, she's a hoot!
We woke up the next morning with more cousins that had arrived and while some went to go play golf, I ran and met my mom, aunt and all the little ones at the downtown park. I don't have pictures, my aunt does, so I'll add when she shares them with me. But the park in P-burg is awesome and they had a blast. Headed home, ate and then headed to the lake. We didn't get out on the lake that night, but had fun with family and stayed up late!
Sat. morning we we woke up to wind blowing like 80 miles an hr (not really, but it was windy). So we hung out around the lake house and eventually took the boat across the lake to swim in a cove so it wasn't so windy. Kaden had fun and got a little brave walking around. Still VERY hesitant on letting go and just being silly, but I'm sure one day he'll be off like a fish! Speaking of, before hand Kaden headed down to the dock for some first time fishing with Uncle Robert. I came down later and Steph said he lasted a whole 5-10 mins and as soon as he was "done" Steph caught a fish on his rod!
We got back and played with a slip 'n slide with the neighbors...Kaden LOVED that! Then later that night we had our 2nd annual baseball game with lots of people. I haven't hit a baseball since last year that time, so I wasn't any Babe Ruth, but Kaden did great and didn't want to to hit off the tee like the other little kids, he wanted to be pitched to...and he hit it really well. That night we did s'mores with some other kids too and it was fun!
Sunday we woke up and I took the kids outside early, since we were the first ones up, and it was RAINING, yuck! But they still did good with their little 4th of July shirts on for a little photo shoot! We did a group picture later in the day too.
Finally the rain let up, while Steph was out Jet skiing, and Kaden and I headed down to get a little time in on the jet ski before we headed home. He LOVED going SUPER fast and saying "Cowabunga" while we were doing it. So cute. When we got done we actually headed out on the boat for a little while others rode the jet ski and it was Brooks' first boat trip. He just LOVED his life jacket....yeah right! But did ok, and fell asleep about 5 mins into it!
We got all packed up and started our head home around 3pm so we made it home around 8:45 and Kaden was SOOO ready to see his daddy and Brett had a fun surprise for him...Fireworks!! We NEVER buy fireworks, but since we were not at the lake to watch the show, Brett got a few and shot them out in the culd-a-sac for Kaden to see. Even though it was raining, Brett still did it for his little boy. Kaden wasn't to sure about the big bangs, always held his ears, but Brooks like whatever was going on. They both just sat and watched. They didn't shoot all of them off b/c it was getting late, but we finished them off last night!
Overall, minus Brett not being with us again, we had a great 4th of July and can't wait to go spend some more time with family. I LOVE holiday times!!!
